Your End-of-Year NDIS Checklist: 5 Steps for a Successful 2026

The final weeks of December are often a whirlwind of festive events and family gatherings. However, for NDIS participants, taking an hour or two to “admin-proof” your plan can make the difference between a stressful January and a smooth start to the New Year.

At Truecare Support Services, we want to see you enter 2026 feeling empowered and organized. Here are the five things every participant should do before the clock strikes midnight.

1. Conduct a “Budget Health Check”

Log into your my NDIS portal or app and look at your remaining funds.

  • Under-spending? If you have a surplus in your Core budget, consider if there are low-cost assistive technologies or consumables you’ve been putting off purchasing.

  • Over-spending? If your funds are lower than expected, now is the time to speak with your Support Coordinator or Plan Manager to adjust your support levels for the coming months.

2. Confirm Your January Roster

Many support workers and therapists take well-deserved breaks in early January. Don’t assume your regular schedule will stay the same.

  • Reach out today: Confirm your support worker’s availability for the first two weeks of January.

  • Backup plans: If your regular worker is away, talk to Truecare about a temporary backup to ensure your daily routine isn’t disrupted.

3. Reflect on Your 2025 Goals

The NDIS is all about progress. Take a moment to look at the goals written in your current plan:

  • Which ones did you kick out of the park? 🏆

  • Which ones felt too difficult or no longer fit your life?

  • Action: Write down three new things you want to achieve in 2026. Having these ready will make your next plan reassessment much easier.

4. Organise Your Paperwork

It’s the “boring” part, but essential. Ensure all your invoices for 2025 have been submitted and paid. If you are self-managed, make sure your receipts are filed safely.

Tip: Clear out old physical files and start a fresh folder (digital or paper) labeled “NDIS 2026”. Starting the year with a clean slate reduces mental clutter!

5. Prepare for the 2026 “New Framework”

As we’ve shared previously, the NDIS will begin transitioning to New Framework Planning in mid-2026. This will change how budgets are calculated and how much flexibility you have.

  • Stay Informed: Keep an eye on our blog and NDIS updates. The better you understand your current “Support Needs Assessment,” the better prepared you will be for these changes when they arrive.
